Beautiful National Parks in the Spring

Spring is finally here, which means it’s RV season! There are many beautiful places for you to take advantage of while traveling. Here are a few of our National Parks that you may want to check out this spring.

Shenandoah National Park, located in Virginia, boasts gorgeous colors all spring. The park’s red maples begin to show their leaves and wildflowers are everywhere! You can explore the land either on foot or with your RV along Skyline drive, where you can see beautiful vistas at every twist and turn on the road. Many animals also come out to enjoy the spring, which you can see at the park. April and May are the best times to visit for wildflowers – the forest floor is absolutely covered in trilliums at that time. Pink azaleas bloom in May, and mountain laurel in June. The spring is also a great time to partake in birdwatching, hiking, and fishing.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park, located in Tennessee and North Carolina, is also a beautiful place come spring time. There are over 800 miles of trails for you to explore. In the spring, the trails are full of wildflowers. In fact, Great Smoky Mountains National Park has over 1,660 kinds of wild flowers – which is more than any other National Park in the country! Some of these flowers are called “spring ephemerals” that appear only in a short 2-month period at the park. These flowers include irises, violets, trilliums, and orchids.

Located close to Cleveland and Akron, Cuyahoga Valley National Park is anything but urban. The park is extremely peaceful, located amongst farmlands, hills, and rivers. The park is home to the 60-foot Brandywine Falls, accessible by a quick hike. In the spring, the park is vibrant with fresh green grass and hills covered in flowers. Visitors may also be lucky and spot newborn animals! The park offers also guided birdwatching tours, and if you take advantage of it in the spring you will be guaranteed to see many happy birds!
